Alex Shandiz is a General Partner at Boomerang Ventures, where she helps lead the firm’s venture fund — shaping fund strategy, portfolio construction, and the investor relationships that advance Boomerang’s mission to bring transformative healthcare ideas to market. She works closely with founders and the Studio team to identify, de-risk, and scale connected health technologies, drawing on a career spent at the intersection of clinical care, digital health products, and venture investing.
Before joining Boomerang, Alex was a Principal at Kaiser Permanente Ventures, one of healthcare’s most established strategic investors, where she sourced and evaluated early-stage digital health and medical technology companies and supported portfolio companies through their growth, including sitting on the board of Omada through IPO, OssoVR, Freenome, Genome Medical, and supporting Abridge and Dexcare.
Earlier, Alex served as Senior Director of Product Management on the Digital Care Delivery team at Elevance Health (formerly Anthem), where she drove strategic alignment across product teams and built partnerships with early-stage digital health startups poised to scale. She was also part of the team that led one of the largest randomized controlled trials in digital health, studying wearable technology to support patients with asthma.
Alex began her healthcare career on the front lines of patient care as an occupational therapist, leading teams across critical care settings at the University of Chicago Medicine, the Cleveland Clinic, and Children’s Hospital Colorado. That clinical foundation continues to shape her conviction that the best healthcare companies are built in close partnership with the clinicians and patients they serve.
Alex earned her MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where she specialized in healthcare and technology; a Master of Science in occupational therapy from Rush University in Chicago; and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Denver.
