Executive in Residence (XiR)

After more than two decades working in various roles at Eli Lilly and Co., including Director of Neuroscience Strategy and Operations, Jeff Hensley is now an Executive in Residence (XiR) at Boomerang Ventures and pursuing his passion for idea generation, teaching/coaching, and helping launch start-up companies.

His expertise includes developing a deep understanding of customers’ and partners’ needs and then transforming those needs into meaningful products and services. He also understands technology and can translate it into customer features and benefits.

At Lilly, Jeff led the development or launch of many new tools or services, including the development of an innovative software tool that optimizes area and district resources, directed the development of a sales regression model to determine critical correlation variables for Sales, and led a national division of 15 top sales representative working with key opinion leaders as local speakers.

As Director of Lean Six Sigma at Lilly, Jeff led strategic planning for two U.S. and corporate initiatives, significantly increasing customer focus and improving overall company safety outcomes. He also led a team that won the Distinguished Market Research award for a new process.

While at Lilly, Jeff was on the founding team and served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for InnoCentive, a pioneer in crowdsourcing. He also directed several global and U.S. pilots for omnichannel marketing, sales, and early telemedicine services.

Prior to Lilly, he founded a start-up that provided streaming B2B presentations.

Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Evansville and an MBA in Marketing at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
